The Red Staircase

While researching an identifying model for cross-cultural metaphors, I stumbled across a very rare manuscript. It is a testimonial dating back to the reign of Khafre, during the construction of his pyramid. The author was Khafre's master of oils, and he gives an account of hearing the laughter of slaves across the camp fires on a cool, dry evening as he waits for the blood to drain from a freshly killed civet. Much of the text is missing, so in an attempt to connect his thoughts, I imagine him on tip toes straining to hear what's so funny already.
